Lawrence is the Founder and currently the Managing Partner of BANKABLE Tanzania Limited, a financial services intermediary focusing on corporate finance advisory and banking and financial markets consulting. A seasoned Certified Chartered Banker from the Chartered Institute of Bankers  and a Certified Financial Markets Dealer by ACI Financial Markets,  He started his career at Standard Chartered Bank in 1998 in the area of International Trade Finance. Lawrence has since established himself as an authority in the banking and financial services sector.

His varied experience in the industry over the last 20 years includes roles as Country Head of Treasury at (NBC), Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director (NBC) and Chairman of the Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA). Lawrence also served in public sector as Treasury Registrar at the Ministry of Finance responsible for supervising and managing financial performance of public entities and state owned enterprises under both 4th and 5th phase governments.

Other previous roles in which Lawrence served includes Director of Resources Mobilisation and Economic Sectors in the President’s Office Delivery Bureau (PDB) and Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Statutory Manager for FBME Bank Ltd.

He is currently serving in the Investment Board of Financial Sector Deepening Trust Fund (FSDT) Tanzania and Board of Trustees of Benjamin Mkapa Foundation (BMF). Lawrence was also appointed as member of Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) COVID -19 Advisory Committee. 

Other previous board positions includes Independent Board Director at CRDB Bank Plc and Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC). He is also a Fellow at Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI).

Lawrence  who holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Dar es Salaam, is a noticeable figure and sought after speaker on matters related to banking, finance and business leadership in both private and public sector.
